Transport sector - Road transport

The road transport sector is strategically essential to social and economic development and ensures passenger and freight mobility across jurisdictions and countries. It makes an important contribution to economic growth and job creation. Road infrastructure investments and operations have strong impacts onother sectors of the economy.

Urban passenger road transport services and operations keep cities moving. By providing mobility services to all, urban passenger transport services constitute a basic service under public regulation. These services are an enabler of other rights and of access to other vital services. They are a powerful driver of equity, development, sustainability, growth, productivity and employment opportunities.
