Launch of Road Map on Care Economy in Indonesia

The Government of Indonesia has initiated on care economy at the Indonesian leadership in G20 in 2022 by acknowledging the care economy as part of G20 Bali Leaders’ Declaration 2022.

The Government of Indonesia has initiated on care economy at the Indonesian leadership in G20 in 2022 by acknowledging the care economy as part of G20 Bali Leaders’ Declaration 2022. At the country level, the President of Indonesia pointed the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection as a leading Ministry on care economy on responding this action. Meanwhile, the House of Parliament initiated the draft bill of mother and child’s welfare which is under consultation process with the private sector, CSO and government to sharpen strategic issues on care policies and services to reduce stunting in Indonesia with related aspects such as maternity, paternity, access for child-care services, breastfeeding break, etc.

In line with the development of the Long-term National Development Plan (RPJPN) 2025-2045, the care economy issues are elaborated into the 17 of Indonesian Golden Goals and accommodated into the Mid-term National Development Plan for 2025-2029.

Understanding the complexity and cross-cutting issues and regulations among the line ministries on care economy issues, the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in a close coordination with Ministry of Development Planning with series stakeholder consultation workshops have developed the Road Map on Care Economy 2025-2045, to achieve the main goal on care economy issues that reflected in the 17 Indonesian Golden Goals.

The roadmap on Care Economy that covers 7 Strategic Priorities on:
  1. Childcare services
  2. Elderly and long-term care services
  3. Inclusive care services
  4. Maternity leave
  5. Paternity leave
  6. Recognition and decent work for care workers
  7. Social protection programme on care Economy
Regarding to the public promotion, Ministry of Women Empowerment and Ministry of Development, supported by ILO, will conduct the event to launch the Care Economy Road Map.
