Insurance

Except for holders of diplomatic or service passports, Switzerland requires that visa applicants provide proof of adequate travel insurance even if they are travelling for the purposes of attending the International Labour Conference.

Office assistance

As heads of delegations have sole responsibility for ensuring that all delegates included in their delegation’s official credentials obtain necessary entry visas for Switzerland, the delegation’s focal point should be contacted if any difficulties are encountered.

In processing visas requests for the purposes of participating at the International Labour Conference, the Swiss authorities will rely on the information that is published on the Delegations to the International Labour Conference platform, which is updated regularly.

In the event of questions, the Swiss authorities will contact the International Labour Office directly in respect to the following categories of participants whose credentials have been submitted in a timely fashion (i.e., 13 May 2024).

For all other participants (“other persons attending the Conference”, “support staff”), the concerned individuals must contact the Swiss representation in their country directly and arrange their visas without any ILO involvement. The ILO will normally be unable to intervene.

Before contacting the ILO with any questions, focal points should verify the Delegations to the International Labour Conference platform (updated regularly) to ensure that the concerned participant’s name matches their valid identity document* and that they are amongst one of the above categories of participants.

*The identity document must bear a photograph, the holder’s first and last name in Latin script, and be issued by countries or other entities recognized by the United Nations.
