The Gender Wage Gap in Egypt
This study is conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MPED)- representing the Egyptian government- and the ILO Cairo office to provide a clear perspective of the size, evolution and determinants of the gender wage gap in Egypt, using data from the Egyptian Labour Market Panel Survey (ELMPS) for the years 1998, 2006, 2012, 2018.
Do Employers Discriminate Against Married Women? Evidence from A Field Experiment in Egypt
This research is the result of a collaborative effort between the ILO Egypt Country Office and the Economic Research Forum (ERF). It discusses the findings and implications of an experiment that assessed employer discrimination by sex and marital status for online job postings in Egypt.
A No Woman’s Place: Employers’ discrimination and hiring challenges in less feminized sectors in Egypt
This study is the result of a collaborative effort between the ILO Egypt Country Office and the Economic Research Forum (ERF) document the overt practices pertaining to discriminatory views against hiring women in certain sectors in Egypt, and seeks to understand their context, relying on in-depth interviews with 32 employers in such sectors.

Enabling success: Supporting Youth in MENA in their Transition from Learning to Decent Work
This report is a result of collaboration between the ILO and UNICEF, with expertise contribution from the European Training Foundation, and the technical work conducted by Legacy Social Development, as part of a joint effort to seek young people’s voices and inputs, along with other stakeholders’ suggestions, to find ways to address the bottlenecks hindering young people’s transition to the labour market.
