The main objective of this assignment is to provide national logistical and technical services under three components: national support for studies on sector selection and value chain analysis; national support for realization of a ‘Do No Harm’ Study for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and support for cooperative development. The deadline for submission of proposal has been extended to 05 June (Eastern Caribbean Time).

On Friday 10 February 2023, Suriname officially signed its third DWCP. DWCPs are the main vehicle for delivery of ILO support to countries and have two main objectives: to promote decent work and its normative framework as a key component of national development strategies; to organize ILO’s knowledge, instruments, advocacy and cooperation at the service of tripartite constituents in a results-based framework to advance the decent work agenda.

Suriname conducts minimum wage setting workshop with support from the ILO

ILO supported a request by the Council of Trade Unions (RAVAKSUR) to conduct a workshop on minimum wage setting in the framework of the country’s second Decent Work Country Programme. The workshop took place at the Suriname Labour College (SIVIS) during 7 and 8 December 2022, and brought together fifty participants from trade unions as well as other members of the National Wage Council.

The Academy, held from 30 November to 6 December 2022, was conceived to build the capacity in supporting youth entrepreneurship in the areas of business planning, general entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship for young women, digital innovation and inclusion and green business.

Taking Action to meet SDG Target 8.7 to end Child Labour by 2025: Building capacity for action on the ground in Trinidad and Tobago and in Suriname.

As active members supported by the ILO Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname have pressed forward with the implementation of national plans to prevent and eliminate child labour, building the capacity of the national labour inspectorates and key stakeholders to identify cases and take action to address this issue.
