Africa marked the World Day Against Child Labour in Africa and the Day of the African Child!
The African Union, ILO and UNICEF held a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, who discussed strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.
ILO Online Course on ''Monitoring and Evaluation of Youth Employment Programmes"
The International Labour Organization (ILO) in partnership with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is organising an online training course intended to capacitate participants to develop and implement results measurement plans for youth employment programmes and contribute to the monitoring and evaluation framework of the Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan (NIYEAP).
Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on Promoting Employment in Nigeria
The Promoting Employment in Nigeria (PEN) Project is organising a Stakeholders’ Consultation Workshop on the 31st of May 2021. This inception workshop would provide an opportunity for national tripartite partners to deliberate on the project strategy and validate the draft work plan of the PEN Project. The objective of the PEN project is to strengthen the evidence-base on employment in Nigeria; employment governance frameworks; and institutional capacity for the transition to decent work. This one-day meeting is expected to foster project ownership and collaboration among national stakeholders towards the effective and efficient implementation of planned project activities.

Commemoration of World Day Against Child Labour 2020 in Nigeria
The Government of Nigeria – in collaboration with the International Labour Organization, Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, National Employers’ Consultative Association, other partners and stakeholders will commemorate the World Day Against Child Labour 2020 virtually to critically highlight the need to improve measures of protection available to Nigerian children against the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The International Labour Organisation, ILO, is organising the validation meeting for its "Accelerating Action for the Elimination of Child Labour in supply Chains in Africa" project, ACCEL AFRICA, funded by the Government of the Netherlands, and implemented in Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria and Uganda.

ECOWAS meeting of Experts' and Ministers in charge of Labour and Employment (ECOWAS Social Dialogue Forum)
In order to strengthen dialogue, coordination and collaboration among Member States in the labour and Employment fields within the region, the ECOWAS Commission institutionalized the ECOWAS Ministers in charge of Labour and Employment meeting in 2006. In the same vain, ECOWAS established a Tripartite Forum of Social Dialogue in 2011 by the adoption of the Supplementary Act A / SQ.1/7 / 07/10. One of the main objectives of the Forum is to prevent and resolve conflicts, to promote peace and social stability, and stimulate socio-economic development and integration at the national and regional levels.

African Judges trained on labour law
The ILO helped 25 African judges from Botswana, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia to fight sex discrimination in the courts but cultural challenges remain the biggest obstacle. The week-long course at the ILO’s training centre in Turin, Italy was organized by the ILO’s Bureau for Gender Equality.
World Day Against Child Labour 2012
This year the World Day Against Child Labour will provide a spotlight on the right of all children to be protected from child labour and from other violations of fundamental human rights. In 2010 the international community adopted a Roadmap for achieving the elimination of the worst forms of child labour by 2016, which stressed that child labour is an impediment to children�s rights and a barrier to development. World Day 2012 will highlight the work that needs to be done to make the roadmap a reality.
