Kenya Labour and Employment Officer Labour Migration Training
FAIRWAY in Kenya in support to the State Department for Labour and the National Employment Authority held a series of labour migration training sessions for Labour and Employment Officers from March to June 2023. Covering major regions in Kenya, the programme trained 236 officers

Job fairs in Kenya provide information on safe migration
The FAIRWAY Programme contributed support to Kenya’s Ministry of Labour and the National Employment Authority (NEA) to conduct a job fair in Mombasa (26 -28 June 2022) to provide information on safe and regular migration, including to the Middle East, with several more fairs planned in other regions in Kenya.
Training
Training to Kenya’s Ministry of Labour staff helps ensure better protection to workers in the country and abroad
With the support of the ILO, migration experts in the East African region, and the Decent Work Team in Pretoria, the FAIRWAY Programme trained 30 labour and employment officers across Naivasha and Mombasa in Kenya. The workshops provide a critical foundation of the roles and responsibilities of such officers for safe, fair and orderly labour migration, and helps sensitize a pool of staff from which future labour attachés are drawn.

Africa marked the World Day Against Child Labour in Africa and the Day of the African Child!
The African Union, ILO and UNICEF held a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, who discussed strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.
Market-based livelihoods interventions for refugees and host communities
This training course supports practitioners working with refugee communities in the design of livelihood interventions based on a solid understanding of market trends and demand. It applies the "Making markets work for the poor" (M4P) approach and draws upon the experiences and lessons learnt from joint UNHCR-ILO pilot projects that have tested the added value of market assessments and value-chain analyses in promoting the livelihoods of refugees in different countries.
Access to decent work for refugees and other forcibly displaced persons
The course aims to strengthen the capacities of policy-makers and practitioners in adopting measures to facilitate the access of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons to the labour market, and in promoting inclusive employment strategies and policies.
FAIRWAY Programme Kenya and KUDHEIHA promote migrant workers’ education
In light of the increasing number of migrant domestic workers seeking employment opportunities in the Gulf and other Arab States, the ILO FAIRWAY Programme in Kenya joined hands with the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospital Workers (KUDHEIHA) to conduct four workshops to raise awareness of intending migrant workers and returnees on the ILO General principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up the Youth at Heart virtual forum to address the issues affecting youth around the world. This session will feature an interactive conversation with young people about solutions, including youth-led, to the challenges posed by COVID-19 on themselves and their peers.
