THAMM Programme “Capitalization, Results, and Perspectives” Ceremony
As the “Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa” THAMM Programme is coming to an end by 31 October 2023 after three years of implementation in Egypt, the Government of Egypt, the European Union (EU) and Germany in coordination with the implementing agencies (ILO, IOM and GIZ), organized a “Capitalization, Results, and Perspectives” Ceremony.
The 2nd THAMM Regional Conference on Mobility Schemes between North African and European Countries opens in Cairo on 30 January 2023
This conference, jointly organized by the ILO, IOM and GIZ, and with the support of ENABEL and OFII, brought together more than 150 face-to-face and 65 online people from all North African countries, many European countries. Participants represent government actors, the private sector, vocational training, public employment services, and social partners from Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia, as well as EU Member States.

Africa marked the World Day Against Child Labour in Africa and the Day of the African Child!
The African Union, ILO and UNICEF held a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, who discussed strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.
Launch of the Initiative for the Fight against Child Labour by the Private Sector in Morocco (ILTESAM)
As part of global efforts to mark the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), in collaboration with the ILO’s project MAP16, is organizing the official launch of its platform ILTESAM, the Initiative for the Fight against Child Labour by the Private Sector in Morocco.

Africa regional launch of the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative and “the social dimension of the ecological transition” project
In the context of the ILO’s Green Week and this year’s Earth Day, the ILO and its tripartite constituents will host a regional launch of the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative. The event will also launch the social dimension of the ecological transition project on advancing climate action, a just transition, and decent work in Africa.

The event aims to address the discussion on skills development with a focus on job rich sectors. It seeks to promote the ILO Centenary Declaration with a strong focus on Skills development, through peer learning between Middle Eastern and North African constituents – at national and sector levels.
Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit 2017: Opening a whole World of Opportunities
Under the auspices of the Ministry of International Cooperation, the ILO Cairo Office and the Middle East Council for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE) will hold the third annual Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit in Hurghada from 15 to 18 November 2017, titled "Opening a whole World of Opportunities".

YENA Conference 2017: The Future on Youth and Employment in North Africa
The International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a High-Level Conference on Youth and Employment in North Africa with participants from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia, as well as development partners and major stakeholders to agree on a five-year plan of action and roadmap to enhance youth employability in the sub-region.
Evaluating Labour Market Programmes: Policy Forum & Executive Course
As part of ILO’s partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the IFAD financed project “Strengthening gender monitoring and evaluation in rural employment in the Near East and North Africa”, a Policy Forum and Executive Course on Evaluating Labour Market Programmes was offered between the 2nd and 6th of July 2017 in Amman, Jordan. The course was co-financed by the OECD Development Centre, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, GIZ and the Economic Research Forum.
